Calculator FAQs
What is SEER2?
SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2) is the current federal efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps, measured under 2023's more realistic test conditions. Higher SEER2 = less electricity for the same cooling. In the South (including Louisiana), new systems must be at least SEER2 14.3.
How accurate is this calculator?
It's honest math, not a quote: we apply the public efficiency difference between your system's era and a new system to the cooling portion of the bill YOU enter. Real savings depend on sizing, ductwork, insulation, and install quality — which is why the final numbers come from a real evaluation, free and no-pressure.
Should I replace my AC just for efficiency?
Not always — and we'll tell you when the answer is no. If your system can be repaired for a fraction of replacement cost and still has life in it, a repair usually wins. The calculator is a starting point for that honest conversation, not a sales script.
Want the real numbers for your home?
A free, no-pressure evaluation measures what the calculator can't — sizing, ducts, and whether a repair beats a replacement. If it can be fixed, we'll tell you.
